Experience & Qualifications

  • Our company is certified under NADCA, TSSA, ASCS and VSMR.
  • Our technicians are employees, not sub-contractors.
  • We are proud to have Paul as our lead technician, operations supervisor and spokesman. He has served homeowners for 13 years, while operating under the NADCA banner as an HVAC technician and Indoor Air Quality Specialist with 4 big name franchises, including Sears and Home Depot. He secured then serviced new home contracts in south central Ontario for Mattamy, Arista, Sheppard, Ashley and Bayview/Wellington Homes for 9 years, in addition to servicing residential & commercial work for a considerable number of high profile clients. To date he has performed duct cleaning for about 23,000 homes and businesses.

What to Expect

  • Being on time is very important. Occasional mechanical problems, traffic, weather and the determination to extract all the dirt at the previous appointment however, may cause delays.
Please be patient and allow at least an hour and a half window of time. You shall be notified by telephone, should there be a delay.
  • An experienced well-seasoned, professional, bonded technician will arrive at your door.
  • Vehicles parked in your driveway will prompt a request to remove them in order to make room for the Canaduct Duct Cleaning truck.
  • Technicians will remove shoes at the front door.
  • Entire operation can take from 1 - 2 hours and is dependent on site conditions.
  • It is not possible to identify the dirt which comes from any particular room or home.
  • Duct cleaning is a tight, but not sealed, operation. All measures are taken to keep this procedure as dust free as is practicable. Localized household vacuuming may be necessary after duct cleaning.

Procedure - Furnace Room

  • Technician will proceed to furnace location in order to determine the most efficient procedure for setting up the duct cleaning equipment.
  • Technician will perform an 8-point inspection of the HVAC system at no charge. Noteworthy conditions will be brought to your attention.
  • Portals are cut/opened in main supply & intake ductwork. Flange of 8" diameter vacuum hose is hooked up to each in turn, and then attachable hoses are led back to the duct truck hopper to where dirt is extracted.
  • "J" channel, plenum and accessible joist liners are cleaned.
  • Using a 300 HP turbo diesel engine, the air duct system is then placed under powerful negative pressure (vacuum) of 20,000 - 30,000 CFM...about 40x more powerful than a household vacuum.
  • Adjustable compression guns deliver up to 250 PSI.
  • 1" snake/access holes are drilled in accessible ductwork at 5 ft. intervals.
  • Hidden ductwork is brushed with air raking tools and attachments that are snaked through main ductwork using attachable scorpion rods, whips, and forward & reverse skipper balls. Dirt is beaten, then forward or back flushed toward vacuum portal.
  • All ports and openings will be plugged and sealed upon completion of the job.
  • Dampers are checked, tightened and adjusted as necessary.

Procedure - Living Areas

  • Locating all vents is necessary in order to perform a thorough cleaning.
  • Each vent is covered, and then flushed.
  • Supply and return/intake vents are flushed.
  • Return/intake vents are usually removed. Some exceptions may apply.
  • Each vent receives a powerful blast of air, forcing dirt and debris into the main ductwork.
  • Large volumes of construction debris are extracted using a 5 HP hand-held wet/dry vacuum
  • Dampers are checked and adjusted as necessary.

Sources of Dust

Homes are tight but not sealed. Sources of dust in the home include:

  • Opening and closing windows and doors
  • Neighbourhood conditions including new home & road construction and high traffic zones
  • Carpeting and under-padding
  • Efflorescence from unpainted concrete floors
  • Floor joists
  • Underside of hanging ceiling panels
  • Underside of ceiling drywall where pot lights are not capped and sealed
  • Beneath and behind baseboards
  • Bed sheets
  • Pets, parties and level of household activity

HEPA filtration is recommended for health issues and remedial dust control.

Feel free to take advantage of our technician’s knowledge and experience. Answers to your questions will prove invaluable to your health and wallet.

"I noticed a difference..." - 5 out of 5 stars

I don't usually write these, but I just had to take a minute to say thank you. I had an appointment with Canaduct last week. Almost immediately after they left my home, I noticed a difference, particularly in my air. It has really improved! I cannot thank you enough for all of the hard work, and of course, the amazing results.
