The Duct Cleaners Are Coming!

What to Expect

  • Being on time is very important. Occasional mechanical problems, traffic, weather and the determination to extract all the dirt at the previous appointment however, may cause delays.
Please be patient and allow at least an hour and a half window of time. You shall be notified by telephone, should there be a delay.
  • An experienced well-seasoned, professional, bonded technician will arrive at your door.
  • Vehicles parked in your driveway will prompt a request to remove them in order to make room for the CanaDuct truck.
  • Technicians will remove shoes at the front door.
  • Entire operation can take from 1 - 2 ½ hours and is dependent on site conditions.
  • It is not possible to identify the dirt which comes from any particular room or home.
  • Duct cleaning is a tight, but not sealed, operation. All measures are taken to keep this procedure as dust free as is practicable. Localized household vacuuming may be necessary after duct cleaning.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Our technicians usually work as a team. Between them they have worked under the NADCA banner for over 9 years and hold a G3 Gas Fitters License.
  • Paul, team leader and company supervisor, has served as an HVAC technician and Indoor Air Quality Specialist with 3 big name franchises for over 9 years. Having secured and serviced the Mattamy Homes, Arista, Ashley and Bayview / Wellington new home contracts in south central Ontario, in addition to residential & commercial work for some very high profile clients, he has serviced over 17,000 homes and businesses.

Procedure - Furnace Room

  • Technician will proceed to furnace location in order determine the most efficient procedure for setting up the duct cleaning equipment.
  • Technician/IAQ Specialist will perform a thorough system inspection AT NO CHARGE. Noteworthy conditions will be brought to your attention.
  • Portals are cut/opened in main supply & intake duct-work. Flange of 8" diameter vacuum hose is hooked up to each in turn, then attachable hoses are led back to the duct truck hopper to where dirt is extracted.
  • "J" channel, plenum and accessible joist liners are cleaned.
  • Using a 65 HP Wisconsin engine, the air duct system is then placed under powerful negative pressure (vacuum) of 16,000 CFP...about 40x more powerful than a household vacuum.
  • Adjustable compression guns deliver up to 250 PSI.
  • 1" snake/access holes are drilled in accessible duct-work at 5 ft. intervals.
  • Hidden ductwork requires the use of an air rake which is snaked through main duct-work using attachable scorpion rods, whips, and forward & reverse whipper balls. Dirt is beaten, then forward or back flushed toward vacuum portal.
  • All ports and openings will be plugged and sealed upon completion of the job.
  • Dampers are checked, tightened and adjusted as necessary.

Procedure - Living Areas

  • Locating all vents is necessary in order to perform a thorough duct cleaning.
  • Each vent is covered, then flushed.
  • Supply and return/intake vents are flushed.
  • Return/intake vents are usually removed. Some exceptions may apply.
  • Each vent receives a powerful blast of air, forcing dirt and debris into the main duct-work.
  • Large volumes of construction debris are extracted using a 5 HP hand-held wet/dry vacuum.
  • Dampers are checked and adjusted as necessary.
